Location

SURROUNDINGS

The villa is located in the charming Istrian village of Jurici, only a 15 minutes ride from Porec town. Believe it or not, there are only four houses in this small village and the location is still far enough to escape the tourist crowds, and enjoy the ultimate peace in a wonderful natural environment.

A 15-min drive will bring you to the nearest beach in Porec, which is a little town and an attractive place with the only Istrian UNESCO landmark – Euphrasian Basilica. In Porec town you can find everything from grocery shops, restaurants, bakeries, post office to entertainment and other modern-day living requirements.

For all the romantics we recommend a visit of the Venetian architecture in the old town streets of Rovinj (25 km) where you can admire the well-developed artistic galleries and take a walk by the sea.  Rovinj is said to be one of the most romantic tourist destinations in Istria with a breathtaking old town – a true pearl od Istrian architecture. The glamorous Baroque buildings and charming alleys create an authentic artistic atmosphere as this is known to be the city of artists and painters.

Pula is 17 km away and also offers numerous quality restaurants and shops as well as strolls through stone alleys. Its old town will impress you with a beautifully preserved amphitheatre, the so called Pula arena which has held many concerts and events from the times of the Roman Empire and continues to do so. From the centre you only need about 10 minutes to reach the airport.

Fazana is a charming little fishing town, only 15 km from Jurici where you can take a tourist boat to Brioni islands – a beautiful Croatian national park where even the well-known former leader Tito had his residence. There is a large pebble beach spreading through the bay of Fazana especially loved by children and adults for its water sports possibilities.

Vodnjan (8 km) is a typical medieval town with interesting architecture: the houses in the town are a part of the city walls which served as a defence through history. The main square boasts with a beautiful Baroque church and palace – the home of the mayor. You will find a few quality restaurants in Vodnjan and some world famous oil producers (Chiavalon) as well as a new sports park with tennis courts.

St. Vincenat (7 km) is a picturesque little town in inner Istria famous for its manor and Renaissance church. Apart from a few extremely good restaurants and bars, the town is best known for its many events and concerts that take place here during the summer months.

BEACHES

Porec town is known for a variety of different beaches. All designate beaches offer garbage bins, changing cabins, showers, bars/restaurants, deck chairs and parasol rentals. Some beaches also offer a range on funny different water activities, such as jet-ski, pedal boat rental, parachute and banana rides!

Zelena laguna (green lagoon) is a large resort which lies 18 km from the villa. This is a peaceful holiday location, tucked away in a charming, pine-forested peninsula, surrounded by pebbly and rocks beaches and a wonderful emerald sea. Right next to the beach is a sports centre with lots of activities to keep you happy and active, when soaking up the sun rays and fresh sea air. This green oasis of relaxation at the furthest point of the peninsula is offering different pleasures such as night swimming right by the Aquapark, which is perfect for families with children.

Only 17 km from the villa lays Brulo beach, which is part of another resort. This is a pebble and rocky beach, nestled in a shallow and well protected bay, which is surrounded by pine trees. Brulo beach is an ideal choice for families with small children, since it never gets boring at the beach! You can enjoy in the offer of the nearby sports centre and water ball sports, as well as in the water park, which is an absolute highlight! Children will love the slides and pools! Brulo beach has also been awarded with prestigious “Blue Flag” award for excellent water quality.

Plava resort, with its curated landscapes, beaches, jogging trails and cycling trails lays also 17 km from the villa. Here you can enjoy a perfect harmony in nature, embracing a blue lagoon. The beaches surrounding Plava resort are rocky and pebbly beaches, and one of them houses and extensive water park, full of slides, trampolines and other games, which makes it perfect for children :)

You should also visit Oliva beach, which lies on the luscious island of St. Nicholas on the opposite side of Porec port. This small island is covered with an autochthonous forest of black oak and pine trees. The beach is partly pebbly and partly constructed in the shape of a round pool on one side of the breakwater, and a concrete plateau on the other side of the breakwater. A part of the sunbathing area stretches across a grassy surface of a small pine park. Paths lead through a pine tree park offering sport facilities.

TRUFFLES, OLIVE OIL, WINE…

Zigante truffles – the road leading to the first restaurant in Istria which has specialized in truffles tells a similar story as truffles do. In Zigante restaurant the day begins and ends with truffles and here they will do their best to make this an unforgettable culinary experience. Their menu changes according to the seasons. We recommend a visit to this exquisite restaurant as a treat after discovering the wine or olive tree trails or as an individual visit. In bosth cases you will experience the best that Istria has to offer.

OLIVE OIL TRAILS

It was the Romans who already grew this magic potion on these lands and still today the Istrians are one of the top quality olive oil producers in the world. In Istria you will find more olive oil producers than wine producers and equally more olive oil champions. At an oil tasting the oil producers will perhaps reveal a secret or two of their success and explain how they gained their recognition around the world and why.

WINE ROUTES

For the people of Istria wine means culture, history, need, love and is above all sacred. The typical terra rossa (red soil) by the sea and the white soil in the inlands, excellent positions and an abundance of sun have ensured top conditions for Istrian wine connoisseurs.

The most famous is undoubtedly the Malvazija sort which always strived to be a step further from the other white wine sorts and has managed to do so in the last 10 years. The most popular red sorts here are Refosk and Merlot and a lovely white dessert wine Muskat.

Over 10 wine routs in the area ensure a fulfillment of your expectations. The hills with their countless vineyards offer never-ending views of this diverse Istrian peninsula.
